Comprehensive permanent collection of 19th century French and American paintings, early 20th century American paintings and photography. Docent tours: 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Currently: Aaron Siskind's Harlem Document, documentary and abstract photographs of people and buildings depicting the condition of Harlem in the '30s. Through July 20.

 My Generation - Young Chinese Artists, this exhibition looks at the new generation of artists who have emerged in mainland China since 2000, a period marked by increased openness to the West and compelling experimentation. Runs  through Sept. 28.

Coming soon: Views of the Panama Canal by Ernest Hallen, a collection of more than 16,000 photographs documenting the construction of the Panama Canal and the evolution of the surrounding areas from 1907 to 1937. Runs July 26 through Nov. 9.

Hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday, Friday-Saturday; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday; noon-5 p.m. Sunday.

Thursdays: Admission is $10 from 5-8 p.m. Also, any MFA guest who goes to the museum on Thursday night can take the receipt to Parkshore Grill or 400 Beach and get 10 percent off dinner.
