The museum has 4,000 square feet of exhibit area housing thousands of artifacts from the Revolutionary War to present. There is a special area dedicated to the 9/11 attack, including some enlarged photos taken by Alex Contraras of Land of Lakes, who was in New York at the time and helped the NYFD in rescue efforts. Many of his photos have been displayed around the state at special events.

The museum also has photos and/or badges of the 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police, and 343 firefighters killed that day.

Museum hours are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday. Admission is normally $5 for adults and $3 for students under age 16.
