1120 North Shore Drive NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33707
This small stretch of sand along Tampa Bay just northeast of downtown St. Petersburg is more popular in the winter, when visitors arrive from the north to set up a lounge chair and soak up the sun. It's not really a good beach for swimming, since the bay's shallow waters and lack of tides make it more like a seaweed-filled bathtub. On some summer days, the smell of decaying plants can make for an unpleasant experience.
Still, it's a popular spot for pickup volleyball games in the summer, and the bocce balls come out when the tourists arrive for the winter.
