The restaurant Web site describes itself as serving traditional southern cooking with an urban flair in an intimate atmosphere. The New Tampa restaurant's tantalizing menu includes a pork chops, fried chicken, salmon and the chef's special catfish. Side dishes are all the comfort food standards: cheese and macaroni, red potatoes, collard greens, a house salad and many more.
There are also the usual city specials, such as hamburgers, chicken strips, wraps and quesadillas. Desserts include chocolate mousse, cheesecake, blondies, brownies and the Gypsy Wrap, "a crispy and sweet but soft-centered succulent treat."
But UCC isn't just known for its food: On the last Saturday of each month, Chef John Saxton offers his lecture series on the "Sensual Side of Foods." Couples or singles can come in and learn why food is so sensual (think that great sensual food scene in "Tom Jones").
