Vertical Ventures has one true pull. In an area with little vertical distance, this gym lets anyone get off the ground. Ventures offers rock climbing in an indoor gym up and across 6,000 square feet of man-made rock walls. Each wall features large, top-roped routes (horizontal routes negotiated with anchored ropes) and smaller boulder problems. All routes and problems change regularly. Along with rock climbing enthusiasts, the facility appeals to those seeking physical fitness outside the usual gym workout.

All climbers must sign a waiver. Minors need a parent's signature. An introductory class is part of the first visit and includes admission, gear, 20 minutes of belay instruction (how to hold the ropes for a climber), and one return visit. There is no age limit to climb but for or the top ropes, climbers must be 15 or older. There are harnesses for little kids. Climbers must be roped above a certain climbing height and staff will instruct you in the fundamentals of climbing and belaying, so that you can safely tackle any route. A variety of skill classes are offered. Vertical Ventures organizes weekly events and trips.

Admission is $14 for the day, $7 for children 8 and under. A belay class for one (includes all equipment, admission and return visit) $35, belay class for two or more $25 each. Individual and family memberships are available, as are five- and 10-day "punch cards" that do not expire and weeknight specials.
