Half Italian, half Asian and all South Tampa style, the place feels homey. Burgers, duck salad, Thai beef, bread bowls, lasagne, pizza and espresso-seared steak all get uptown presentation and warm neighborhood vibe. Plus miso, pesto and the whims of chef Robert Masson. The bar scene: Swank is the word inside 717. On a Friday night, dozens of dressy women and men crowd up to the bar, well stocked for whatever cocktail your heart may desire. The drinks are strong and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is tropical-meets-big city cocktail lounge. This part of Tampa Bay has plenty of frat-party-esque hot spots but inside of 717 South there's more of cosmopolitan feel.
