    • The FSU Center for the Performing Arts is the home of the Asolo Repertory Theatre, the FSU/Asolo Conservatory and the Sarasota Ballet. The center contains two stages, the Mertz and Cook theaters. The Asolo Rep performs primarily in the Mertz Theatre, an elegant 500-seat facility originally built as an opera house in Dunfermline, Scotland, in 1903. The exterior of the building was demolished in the 1980s but the interior was saved, shipped to Sarasota and restored in the present theater. The Asolo Rep also performs one or two plays in the more intimate 161-seat Cook Theatre.

The Asolo Repertory Theatre's season normally runs from November through May. The FSU Center for the Performing Arts is adjacent to the Ringling Museum of Art.

Wheelchair seating is available in all theaters but must be requested when ordering tickets. Mertz Theatre orchestra seating is at street level. Free tours, including a look at the costume shop, are available Wednesday–Saturday, 10 and 11 a.m., November through May. Call the box office.
