5 things to do under $5: Snooty and Gregg Allman remembered, free tree climbing

1Festival of the Skeletons: Snooty the manatee and Gregg Allman, two much-loved local icons who died this year, will be honored with special Day of the Dead shrines at the Dia de los Muertos festival at Bradenton’s Village of the Arts. There will also be a concert on Friday by Allman’s son, Michael, a public Memory Wall to remember loved ones, food, music, and art throughout the village. 6-10 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Gracelia’s Park at the Village of the Arts, 1015 12th Ave. W, Bradenton. Free admission. villageofthearts.com.

2Canopy Tree Climbing: Climbing is now free at this monthly event where ages 6 and older can ascend into the canopy of a huge live oak tree using harnesses and a rope pulley system. It’s the kind of system commonly found in the canopies of rainforests to help climbers scale tall trees. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Pathfinder Outdoor Education, 1310 22nd Ave. S, St. Petersburg. (727) 328-0300.

3Conga Caliente: The annual celebration of Hispanic arts, culture and food includes a youth area, health village, art displays, beer garden and cigar area. Entertainment includes salsa singer Oscar D’León and Dominican bachata singer Andy Andy. 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Al Lopez Park, 4810 N Himes Ave., Tampa. Free.

4Tampa Bay Home Show: The largest home show on Florida’s west coast brings the area’s top home improvement experts, along with more than 600 exhibits with everything related to Florida homes, home improvement, home entertainment and landscaping. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Tropicana Field, 1 Tropicana Drive, St. Petersburg. Free.
