5 things to do under $5: Chasco Fiesta, Tampa's Fourth Fridays, Easter egg hunt

RECOMMENDED READING

1 Chasco Fiesta: This year's nine-day festival runs Friday through April 1 with a carnival midway. There are also a series of events surrounding the festival including a street parade at 1 p.m. Saturday, a car show around Orange Lake 1-8 p.m. Sunday, concerts, a Native American Festival (March 30-April 1) and a boat parade (April 1). Full lineup at chascofiesta.com. Free to attend. Wristband for carnival rides $15-$25 (varies by day). Next to Sims Park, 5547 Main St., New Port Richey. (727) 842-6055.

2 Downtown Tampa's Fourth Fridays: Venues around downtown Tampa offer extended hours Friday with free, special or added value admission deals or special programming. You can also find deals at restaurants. New this month is U2Charist, a night of U2 music and communion to support the social and artistic fabric of Tampa, at 7 p.m. at the Portico, 1001 N Florida Ave. fourthfridaytampa.com.

3 Spring Beer Jam: The Dunedin Brewery gives jam bands their due while also introducing a few dozen seasonal beers on the last weekend in March. Starting today, you can get four nights of the South Florida jam rock favorites Heavy Pets. Other bands lined up include the Joe Marcinek Band, Jahman Brahman, Jonathan Scales Fourchestra, Backup Planet and DJ 45Revolver. No cover. Happy Hour is 4-7 p.m. and live music starts at 8 p.m. 937 Douglas Ave., Dunedin.

4 Greek Independence Day: Are you willing to humiliate yourself for free food? In honor of Greek Independence Day, wear a toga to a local Little Greek restaurant on Saturday and get a free gyro and a free piece of baklava while supplies last. Find locations at littlegreekfreshgrill.com.

5 Easter Eggstravaganza: Though we don't like to encourage this overused pun (we have a running bet in our office on how many "eggstravanzas" we'll get by Easter) we'll overlook the groan-worthy title because kids can bring their Easter baskets to Tyrone Mall to hunt for hidden eggs for free and redeem them for treats and prizes. The Easter Bunny will be available for photos after. Starts at 10 a.m. Saturday at 6901 Tyrone Square, St. Petersburg. (727) 347-3889.
