5 things to do under $5: Saturday Market returns, Shine Mural Festival, Roboticon

1. Judah Friedlander: With his trademark oversized glasses, shaggy hair and trucker hat, the comedian best known for playing one of Tina Fey's writers on 30 Rock will perform with the Lucas Brothers at the annual USF Stampede comedy show at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday during Homecoming Week. Free for students and the community at the Sun Dome, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. (813) 974-3004.

2. Shine Mural Festival: Keep your eyes peeled for murals popping up around St. Petersburg now through Oct. 14 as the popular mural festival returns for its third year. With more than a dozen new murals every year, the festival is turning downtown St. Petersburg into an outdoor art museum. The roster is a mix of local, national and international artists, including local artist John Suarez, who goes by the moniker Suarezart, the artist known as Cryptik (Los Angeles), Joram Roukes (Netherlands) and Waone (Ukraine). 3. Downtown Saturday Morning Market: The popular fresh market is back for its 15th year with a free performance by the Urban Gypsies. The market draws 10,000 customers a week and 170 local vendors, making it the largest such market in the Southeast. You'll find fresh produce, gourmet and specialty foods, hand-crafted items, flowers and plants in the parking lot of Al Lang Stadium, 230 First St. SE, St. Petersburg, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through May.

4. Roboticon: The public is invited to watch this full-scale steam punk-themed competition with a variety of robots in various stages of construction and operation and a college and career fair. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at the University of South Florida Sun Dome, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. Free.

5. The Way We Worked: This traveling exhibition by the Smithsonian Institution will be featured at the Center for Gulf Coast Folklife in Tarpon Springs. The opening reception 6-8 p.m. Friday explores how work became the central element of American culture and features a panel discussion. The free exhibit remains on display through Nov. 17 at 101 S Pinellas Ave.
