Fall Arts Preview: Your guide to museums, plays, opera and classical music in Tampa Bay

Welcome the sweet approach of fall. Despite our current heat index, we’ll soon experience milder air, shorter days and too many things flavored like pumpkin.

But in Tampa Bay, the true indicator of fall is the rebirth of local art. Our professional theaters are preparing new seasons, exploring relevant themes so we may better understand ourselves in this challenging world.

Opera houses are alive to the rafters, while one maestro debuts new material past his own centennial. The Florida Orchestra is increasing roles for the underrepresented, all while plotting a stunning slate of masterworks.

Yayoi Kusama’s Love Is Calling will challenge perspectives. Robert Indiana will teach us to LOVE. Dalí will dance with Magritte. And inspiration will abound everywhere we look.

VISUAL ART: From Kusama to Magritte, the Tampa Bay museum scene is impressive

CLASSICAL MUSIC: In a new season, Florida Orchestra expands reach, new top soloists

STAGE: Light and dark, classic and groundbreaking round out Tampa Bay theater

OPERA: Opera Tampa will premiere new opera by Anton Coppola, 101, and more
