These famous tiny houses are coming to Tampa Bay for the Tiny Home Show

The tiny home craze brings images of twee hipsters lounging on foldaway futons in homes that are quaint and whimsical.

The Tiny Home Show on Saturday at the Hillsborough Community College SouthShore campus in Ruskin is bringing in some "celebrity" tiny homes featured on HGTV and elsewhere. It also aims to show what the Circle Pond Tiny Home Community coming to Sun City Center can deliver.

Debbie Caneen, director of admissions at SunTowers in Sun City Center, said she was prompted by the challenge of finding affordable housing in the SouthShore area, especially for employees at the assisted living facility.

The home show is bringing in what could be called tiny celebrities, including John and Fin Kernohan’s tiny firehouse, which was featured on HGTV. Tiffany the Tiny Home will be there with bloggers Tim and Sam Davidson, and Shorty Robbins will bring Nawaka, the Victorian Tiny Home. Artisan Josh will bring his home nicknamed Lil Red, and Caneen’s own tiny home, which was designed by a University of South Florida student, will be on display.

There will also be some "skoolies," former school buses that are now homes.

Vendors will be also on hand to talk about furnishing living spaces of 100 to 400 square feet. There will also be talks on sustainability, hydroponics, solar power, edible landscaping, aquaculture and becoming debt free 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at 551 24th St. NE, Ruskin. Admission is $5, free for veterans and students with ID. (813) 892-2990. circlepondtinycommunity.com.
