Festival

First Friday Dade City: The streets of downtown Dade City come alive with music and festivities from 4 to 9:30 p.m. July 6. Bring the family or a sweetheart for numerous activities and music throughout the downtown area. Highlights over at the Agnes Lamb Park/8th Street parking lot include musician Johnny Shelton (who appeared on America's Got Talent), charity bingo from 4:30 to 6 p.m., a Mocktale Lounge (non-alcoholic) from 5 to 9 p.m., and a street dance from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The monthly event is hosted by the Dade City Merchants Association. Family

Loomis Bros. Circus: The show continues at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 Broad St., Brooksville. The "Circus is Alive" show features elephants, acrobats, tigers, daredevils, clowns and a live circus band. Doors open approximately one hour prior to each performance and all tickets are general admission, first-come, first-served. Funds raised benefit the nonprofit Florida International Teaching Zoo in Bushnell. $20, $8 ages 3-12, 2 and younger free. Call (352) 587-2845.

Kick Ball Fundraiser: Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point invites guests, organizations and employees to form teams of 11 players each and show off kick ball skills in the kick ball competition from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at Veterans Memorial Park (Hudson), 14333 Hicks Road, Hudson. Spectators welcome. This is a benefit for the American Heart Association. Teams can be formed in advance or prior to the competition. The cost is $10 per player. Call (727) 375-6638.

Music

Simply Streisand: The tribute artist, who has the look and sound of Barbra Streisand, performs at 8 p.m. Sept. 7 at Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson. Big Band Bash: The Hernando Jazz Society opens its season with a bash starting at 2 p.m. Sept. 9 at Wellington at Seven Hills clubhouse, 400 Wexford Blvd., Spring Hill. There will be a performance by the Hernando Jazz All Stars, featuring the J.R. Farley Orchestra. Food and a cash bar available for purchase in Sioux City Grill. Season tickets are $50 and include nine performances. Tickets for nonmembers are $10 each or $15 per couple (does not include the optional buffet meal). Performances are the second Sunday through April, and first Sunday in May. Call (352) 263-8579.

Jenu Six and the Old Souls: Performing 2 to 3 p.m. Sept. 8 at Hudson Regional Library, 8012 Library Road, Hudson. The young singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist is rooted in folk, bluegrass, country and blues. Free. Call (727) 861-3040.

Curtain call

Annie: Auditions are at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 and 1 p.m. Sept. 8 at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Prepare 16-32 bars of a musical (any musical, not necessarily this musical); a bluetooth speaker and an accompanist will be available. Wear clothing that allows you to move for the dance portion, including dance shoes or closed-toe shoes. The directors are looking to cast girls age 6-14, boys age 12-17, and men and women ages 20-60. Summer Art: The exhibit is on display through Oct. 6 at the Pasco Fine Arts Center, 4145 Fairford Drive, New Port Richey. The show features paintings by students and instructors. Call (727) 845-7322.

Westerns and More: Artists Reception: Mingle with award-winning artists while viewing their work from 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 7 at Tarpon Art Guild Gallery, 118 E Tarpon Ave., Tarpon Springs. Along with some artists from Pinellas County, the exhibit also features works from Pasco County artists, including Susan Duda from Hudson; and Kathy Detrano and Jan Wojcik from New Port Richey. On, In and By the Water: The exhibit, which features artwork depicting water, is on display through Oct. 6 at the Uptown Art Gallery at Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave., Brooksville. Snapshots of the Mesozoic: A New View of Dinosaurs: Sculptor Lyn Joyce's exhibit is on display through Oct. 17 at Pasco-Hernando State College Rao Musunuru, M.D. Art Gallery, 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey.
