GULFPORT — The Most Holy Name of Jesus Oktoberfest opened Thursday.
Former festival chair Tim Yeazell said the event is bigger than it has been in several years, including 19 rides and about 10 food vendors.
Finances had declined in recent years, taking away the big tent where people gather for dining and live music. The tent is back this year.
"We hope the crowd comes back and takes another look," said Yeazell.
The event runs from 4-11 p.m. today, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and from 11:30 (beginning with a Mass) to 7 p.m. Sunday.
The location is on the corner of 15th Avenue S and 58th Street near Boca Ciega High School.
