African Children's Choir performs in Plant City

PLANT CITY — The African Children's Choir, which features children ages 7 to 11 from Uganda, performed Sunday at Plant City Church of God on Sunday

The performance, part of a tour that the children are doing throughout the United States, raises money for the African Children's Choir's parent program, Music for Life.

The children receive money from sponsors for their education through college, because of their work with the choir.

"Their life changes when they go back to Africa, because they receive an education and can help their families and communities," said Catherine Wake of Ontario, a teacher who has been volunteering with the African Children's Choir since January.

    Sometimes, the more time you have with a project, the more complicated it gets. I started hearing about Mortar & Pestle in Seminole Heights about 18 months ago. It was the vision of Ujwal Patel, a pharmacist;
