Fair for future set today for ese students

Hernando County Exceptional Student Education students in grades 6 to 12 are invited to Project Connect's Get Connected to Your Future fair from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Arc Nature Coast, 6495 Mariner Blvd. ESE students and their families can learn about opportunities in the community from prospective employers and service providers. YMCA Good Friday service March 29

The Hernando County Family YMCA will host its annual Good Friday service at 9 a.m. March 29 on the YMCA grounds, 1300 Mariner Blvd. The outdoor service, co-hosted by the West Hernando Christian Ministerial Association, will include several ministers from local churches. Weed and Feed needs volunteers

The Spring Hill Garden Club is seeking volunteers to assist at its Weed and Feed on Saturday at the Spring Hill waterfall entrance at Spring Hill Drive and Commercial Way, as well as at the Nature Coast Botanical Gardens, 1489 Parker Ave. Volunteers should arrive at the botanical gardens at 9 a.m.; bring gloves, weeding tools and insect repellent. Free class slated on azaleas Monday

A free horticulture class, Amazing Azaleas, will be offered at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Hernando County Cooperative Extension Service, 1653 Blaise Drive. Urban horticulture agent Jim Moll will discuss how to care for these colorful landscape assets and how to have flowers on healthy plants for years to come. There is no registration required. Housing Authority applicants sought

The Brooksville City Council is accepting applications from individuals interested in volunteering on the Brooksville Housing Authority. There is one alternate position to fill a four-year term of office. Applicants must be registered Florida voters. For consideration, an application form must be completed, along with an authorization for a background check, and returned to the city clerk's office no later than 5 p.m. April 5. The NatureCoast Coalition for Peace and Justice will have a demonstration from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Brooksville-Tampa Bay Regional Airport office, 15800 Flight Path Drive, south of Brooksville. The demonstration's location was incorrect Wednesday.
