Black Nativity returns with gospel telling of the Christmas story

Talk to anyone who has seen the Palladium's annual production of Black Nativity and the conversation will quickly go to Sharon Scott. The powerhouse gospel singer manages to stop the show more than once. The annual tradition continues as Scott and actor and director Bob Devin Jones team up for this year's performance of Langston Hughes' retelling of the classic story with an African-American cast, with traditional Christmas carols sung in gospel style. The show is free; donations accepted. Seating is limited, so it's first come, first served Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Palladium, 253 Fifth Ave. N, St. Petersburg.

    Visual Arts

SEATTLE — More than 40 years later, Jeffrey Beers still vividly remembers what it felt like to have Dale Chihuly call up to convene a pre-dawn glassblowing session.
