Camping the old-fashioned way

June Quade of Norfolk, Va., knits a blanket while her husband of 60 years, Herb, relaxes in their 1973 Airstream camper at the Sertoma Youth Ranch in Brooksville on Friday. The Quades are among those who have gathered for the 93rd Tin Can Tourists Winter Convention. Many of the campers at the convention have vintage trailers and motor homes dating from the 1940s through the 1960s, although the club is open to everyone, and ownership of a vintage trailer or motor coach is not a prerequisite. During the convention's open house today, people can tour the campgrounds at the youth ranch at 85 Myers Road. The event is open to the public. For more information, visit www.tincantourists.com.
