Help them out: Hillsborough charities in need of holiday donations

Metropolitan Ministries

If you have a food or toy donation you would like to drop off, Metropolitan Ministries' big white tent is now located just west of the N Nebraska Avenue and E Cass Street intersection. You can find more drop-off locations and ways to give or volunteer at metromin.org/holiday-central.

Teddy Bear Toss

The 10th annual event at Hillsborough High School will collect donations of Teddy bears and stuffed animals for children in need. Bring a stuffed animal to throw on the court during halftime and they will be donated to the children in need. It will take place on Dec. 16 at 8 p.m. during halftime of the Hillsborough vs. Chamberlain basketball game. $4 for game entry. Can't make it to the game? You can drop off Teddy bears at the school at 5000 N Central Ave., Tampa.

Operation Christmas Gift

Christian Family Church, Central Park Village Youth Services and the Radiant Group are hosting a free event Dec. 11 for the children and families surrounding Ybor City and downtown Tampa. You can put a Toy Drive Box at your place of business and call or email when the box is full and ready for pick up. They are also looking for volunteers and donations for the event at The Nick Capitano Boys & Girls Club and St. Claver's Catholic School at 1218 E Kay St., Tampa. Online food drive

This holiday season, Always Best Care®Senior Services is hosting an online food drive to benefit Cornerstone Kids. Now through Dec. 13, visit YouGiveGoods.com/ABC-Hillsborough and select from a variety of goods to purchase for donation.

Senior Gift Baskets

In addition to volunteers to deliver presents and sing carols, the 15th annual Christmas Senior Gift Baskets on Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 17. they are in need of donations of new lotions, shower gels, and lap blankets. Holly Jolly Cat Food Drive

The Sun City Center Cat Lovers Club will be collecting donations of cat food – both canned and dry, cat treats and kitty litter. All donated cat food will be given to low-income seniors, the disabled and community cat caretakers. Donations will be collected through Dec. 31 at the following locations:

• Boggs Jewelers, 4845 Sun City Center Blvd. Mondays-Fridays, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m-noon

• Men's Club of SCC, 1002 Cherry Hills Drive, Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-5 p.m..

• Sun City Center Security Patrol, 1225 N Pebble Beach Blvd. Sun City Center, daily 9 a.m.-9 p.m.,

• Cadence Bank, Dec. 12-15, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.. and Dec, 16, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at 4842 Sun City Center Blvd.

• Mail donations to Cat Lovers Club, PO Box 5772, Sun City Center, FL 33571-5772 and mark your donation "Feed the Tuna Chest" fund. CatLoversClub.org.
