Hip-hopper Rick Ross bringing tour to St. Petersburg

Rick Ross is definitely club material. In the last couple of years, he's even played a few arenas.

But is he capable of commanding the same theater that houses the Florida Orchestra?

We'll find out on Nov. 22, when Miami's own hip-hop magnet — who once had a ringtone sell platinum — comes to the Mahaffey as part of his eight-city "Mastermind Tour." Tickets are $39.50-$69.50, and they'll go on sale Friday.

The tour is in support of Ross' upcoming album Mastermind, his follow-up to last year's blockbuster God Forgives, I Don't, and it'll see Ross performing with a live band, the 1500 Or Nothin' Band, who have performed with Snoop Dogg, T.I. and others.

Side note: Hip-hop fans better start saving up for late October now. In addition to Rick Ross on Nov. 22, we're also looking at shows by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (Nov. 23), Joey Bada$$ and Ab-Soul (Nov. 23) and, of course, Kanye West (Nov. 30).
