Hockey on the beach? Lightning watch parties planned

Hockey fan must-haves: a big screen, lots of buddies to watch the game with and sunscreen. Wait, what? Yep. In an only-in-Florida party, the TradeWinds Resort's Guy Harvey Outpost is hosting a Lightning watch party with a jumbo screen right on the beach on Thursday and Saturday. The resort has hosted similar watch parties for Rays games that often drew close to a 100 people to roar along with score. Now they are expanding the idea for hockey. Coolers are not allowed, but fans are encouraged to bring their own beach chairs and umbrellas. Admission is free, and $10 parking will be available at the Guy Harvey Outpost, 6000 Gulf Boulevard, St. Pete Beach, and at the neighboring Island Grand. See or call (727) 367-6461 for information. Other games coming up are: Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. vs. Carolina Hurricanes; Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. vs. New Jersey Devils; Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. vs. Montreal Canadiens; and March 1 at 3 p.m. vs. Dallas Stars. — Sharon Kennedy Wynne

  4. 'Baby Driver' literally turns heist movie genre on its ear, set to slick soundtrack

Buckle up for Baby Driver, a movie so full throttle cool that you want to fist bump the screen. Style is the substance of Edgar Wright's inventive heist flick, a fresh, masterful synching of music and getaway mayhem, as if La La Land's traffic jam was moving, armed and dangerous.

Baby (Ansel Elgort) is a getaway driver for heist arranger Doc (Kevin Spacey). Plagued by tinnitus, Baby tunes out his distracting “hum in the drum” by listening to music while he drives.
