IIFA events for week of Bollywood film awards in Tampa

TAMPA — The 15th annual International Indian Film Academy's Weekend & Awards has a variety of events for ardent Bollywood film fans and curious Tampa Bay area residents alike. Here's the week's schedule:

Wednesday

• 7 to 11 p.m. — IIFA Stomp Bollywood dance music festival at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, downtown Tampa, featuring DJ Clement, DJ Aman Nagpal and DJ Ravidrums, known to fellow Chamberlain High graduates as Ravi Jakhotia. Listen for DJ Ravidrums on Do Da Tampa, IIFA's official music track. The event is free and open to the public. Indian food and merchandise. Beer sales benefit the Gasparilla Film Festival. Officials expect a crowd of 4,000 to 6,000.

• 7:10 p.m. — Bollywood Night at the Tampa Bay Rays vs. Minnesota Twins game, Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg. Shahid Kapoor to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Thursday

• 8:30 a.m. — First day of Global Business Forum at Tampa Convention Center. The business forum will feature Indian CEOs, Indian business and commerce organizations, academics and officials from India and the United States. Register at usf.edu/business/iifa/registration.aspx

• Noon to 8 p.m. — First day of IIFA Expo, featuring Indian products (clothing, jewelry and handicrafts), services (wellness and tranquility; as well as real estate and banking) fashion shows and culture, at the Tampa Convention Center. Free and open to the public. Registration opens at noon. Opening remarks by Anil Kapoor at 1 p.m. Raffle to win a chance to meet Parineeti Chopra.

• 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. — Green carpet arrivals, which are open to the public, before the 8 p.m. invitation-only IIFA Rocks live music and fashion show at the Tampa Convention Center.

Friday

• 8:30 a.m. — Global Business Forum, Tampa Convention Center.

• 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. — IIFA Expo, Tampa Convention Center.

• 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. — Green carpet arrivals before the 7 p.m. admission-by-ticket-only "Magic of the Movies & Technical Awards" show at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, Florida State Fairgrounds, Tampa. Tickets at livenation.com.

Saturday

• 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. — IIFA Expo, Tampa Convention Center.

• 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. — Green carpet arrivals before the 8 p.m. admission-by-ticket-only Tata Motors IIFA Awards, Raymond James Stadium. Tickets at ticketmaster.com.
