Make a bucket list of all the fun things you want to do around Tampa Bay

Maybe you've been here your whole life and done absolutely everything — been to every beach, art museum and local music hangout. Kudos to you, superhuman.

But more likely, you're like me, and you've been in Tampa Bay for a handful of years without going to some of the "staples" that we always hear about. You know what I'm talking about. We all have those handful of places that we've never been, always on the edge of our minds. I read about some of them every week right here in Weekend.

I've been to the Tampa Theatre, the Dalí Museum, Pier 60 at Clearwater Beach. But not to the Tampa Museum of Art, Datz or a concert at the Capitol Theatre, the Mahaffey or the Ritz Ybor.

In the spirit of Jay Cridlin's bucket-list of concerts we need to see in Tampa Bay, make your own bucket list of things to see and do around Tampa Bay. Even if you aren't going away any time soon, a list is always a good kick in the pants to get started.

Maybe you read through the pages of Weekend and jot down all the things you haven't done and want to. Maybe you want to eat at all of food critic Laura Reiley's Top 50 restaurants ( tampabay.com/top50restaurants). Maybe you just frequently read or hear about some local spot that piques your curiosity. However your list forms, write or type it down and brag about it when you finish.

To get you started, I'm going to fess up to some of the things even I, an editor reading about all things fun to do in Tampa Bay, somehow haven't done but want to get around to. Feel free to borrow or send me more ideas of your own at [email protected]

WEEKI WACHEE SPRINGS

Mermaids anyone? Or a lazy river? This 70-year-old attraction sounds both quirky and relaxing in the best possible way.

PIRATE WATER TAXI

The bay area has plenty of boats, boats, boats. But this seems like a fun way to get around.

THE OXFORD EXCHANGE

Book editor Colette Bancroft recently described this Tampa spot as "so gorgeous … that a visit feels like walking into an issue of Architectural Digest." Plus a restaurant (mmm, brunch!), local tea and coffee counters and a bookstore. Why haven't I been here?

CHIHULY COLLECTION

The museumlike gallery has been on my list since I started here at the Times as an intern who once asked, "Chi-who-ee?" Yeah, I really have no excuse.

YBOR CITY'S MUSIC VENUES

I can say I've seen a show at the soon-to-be-gone New World Brewery, but stopping at one of Ybor's other talked about venues — the Ritz, Crowbar, the Orpheum — is still on my list.
