Five Tampa mayors, a pop-up bar and a family fun zone will welcome the ribbon cutting for the Kennedy segment of Tampa's Riverwalk this weekend.

Former mayors Sandy Freedman, Dick Greco, Pam Iorio and Gov. Bob Martinez along with current Mayor Bob Buckhorn will be there at 5 p.m. Friday for a ribbon cutting of the Kennedy Boulevard segment, followed by family fun in Curtis Hixon Park .

The Plank, Tampa's first waterfront pop-up bar, will also open in the park throughout the weekend. It takes its name from the wooden planks that were originally sold as part of the Tampa Riverwalk.

Sono Cafe will manage food service for the three-day installation.

The Kennedy segment spans 1,460 feet of water on the eastern side of the Hillsborough River, running underneath Kennedy Boulevard Bridge. The segment links MacDill Park to Curtis Hixon Park, giving pedestrians and cyclists 1.8 miles of continuous Riverwalk.

The ribbon cutting will be at 5 p.m. Friday at Curtis Hixon Park. The Plank hours will be Friday 5-10 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
