Novelist Nicholas Sparks to speak at USF

Nicholas Sparks is an author who churns romance novels that are almost immediately made into movies. So just in time for Valentine's Day, the author of The Notebook, Dear John and more than a dozen other bestselling titles, will present the next lecture in the student-run University Lecture Series at the University of South Florida. The lecture begins at 8 p.m. (doors open at 7:30 p.m.) on Thursday in the Marshall Student Center Ballroom, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. A book signing will be held immediately following the lecture. Sparks will share his expertise in the creative writing process, as well as his personal story of hard work, rejection and triumph. The lecture is free and open to the public. — Sharon Kennedy Wynne
