Play Tampa Bay: Theme park tips, Sunset Music Festival, Backyard BBQ

In this week's Play Tampa Bay, Michelle and Katie share theme park news (in honor of our annual Theme Park Guide) and tips, and offer suggestions for how to spend Memorial Day in Tampa Bay. Here are the quick details on those events, and for even more things to do, head to


Sunset Music Festival: The massive EDM concert starts at noon on Saturday at Raymond James Stadium. Tickets start at $69.


97X Backyard BBQ: Coheed and Cambria and Twenty One Pilots headline this day of beer, bands and BBQ. It starts at noon at Vinoy Park in St. Pete. Free; $50 VIP.


Music and Movies in the Park: E.T.: There's a free screening of Spielberg's Oscar-winning movie starting at dark in North Straub Park.


Memorial Day Weekend Party at Shephard's: The whole weekend is packed with live music and food and drink specials. It runs Friday through Monday at Shephard's Beach Resort in Clearwater. $10-$20.

American Stage in the Park: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee runs through Sunday. Tickets range from $13-$35.
