For the fifth year in a row, Rays coaches, players and front office staff will shave their heads on Saturday to pay tribute to children fighting cancer, and fans can once again join them in the cause.
It's becoming a spring training ritual and the team even turned it into a "Fortune Favors the Bald" slogan in 2013. Last year kids who had just finished treatment lined up behind the barber chairs in right field to shave heads of players like Evan Longoria, coaches and even principal owner Stuart Sternberg.
Fans will be asked to make a donation at the game or at pcfcutforacure.org. Fans will be able to shave their heads with the Rays and receive a special Rays "Cut for A Cure" cap made by New Era for a $50 donation. All proceeds benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation's Cut for a Cure.
The haircutting begins Saturday at 11 a.m., prior to the Rays-Yankees game at 1:05 p.m. at Charlotte Sports Park, 2300 El Jobean Road, Port Charlotte.
