How can this not be flippin' amazing? Representing up to nine countries, 36 of the world's top wakeboarders will splash, fly and flip in downtown Tampa at the Red Bull Wake Open this weekend. For the first time ever in U.S. competition, a ramp-to-ramp obstacle will be introduced, "allowing riders to push the limits of big air competition," a news release says. In other words, they fly high. Cool. On Friday visitors can end their night with a fireworks display over the Hillsborough River. It is free to attend with excellent viewing locations around the channel including the Tampa Convention Center and Knights Point at Harbour Island. It runs 3 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. The competition will be aired live on NBC starting at 4 p.m. Saturday.
