Rockabilly great Reverend Horton Heat coming to State Theatre

Rockabilly legend the Reverend Horton Heat has announced an Oct. 27 concert with special guest Wayne "The Train" Hancock at the State Theatre in St. Petersburg. The Texas-born band fronted by creator Jim Heath (who was given his alias as the Reverend Horton Heat by a club owner in the '80s) blends the genres of country, surf, punk, big band, swing, jazz, rockabilly and more in aggressive sets that have enjoyed a diverse cult following thanks to relentless touring. Tickets are $20 in advance, $23 day of show and go on sale Friday. — Sharon Kennedy Wynne, Times staff writer
