Crawfish, cookies, children and charities take center stage Saturday at the Winthrop Pole Barn as the FishHawk-Riverview Rotary Club hosts its fifth annual Crawfish Festival from noon to 4 p.m.

The event is free, but food tickets are $15 while supplies last.

The main course includes approximately two pounds of crawfish, corn and potatoes. This year, the Rotarians added a signature crawfish cookie, baked by A Sweet Haven, for $3 each.

Proceeds will go to a number of area charities, including Emergency Care Help Organization, Boy Scouts, YMCA, Honor Flight West Central Florida, RVR Horse Ranch, Sylvia Thomas Center and others.

Children who bring a nonperishable food donation will be given a free hot dog. They also can enjoy a kids zone complete with face painting, arts and crafts, games, a bounce house and simulated drills alongside Fire Rescue responders.

The event also will feature live music and vendor booths where visitors can purchase Cajun food, hamburgers and drinks.

Rotarian Michael Broussard, who will cook the crawfish after personally traveling to Louisiana to purchase the festival fare, helps lead the effort. Chairwoman Lisa Jordan organized the logistics while Patty Silver promises a large variety of vendors.

Lisa and Cliff Kennedy arranged for several bands to perform. Donna Lee Fore planned the children's area.
