Things to do in Tampa Bay for Aug. 24

Dog Swim Day: The St. Petersburg Recreation Department offers leash-free swim and play for dogs before the pool closes for the season. Proof of your dog's current vaccinations is required. Sorry humans, no swimming for you. First session starts at 9 a.m. at Fossil Park Pool, 6739 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N, St. Petersburg. $5 per session dogs, humans free. (727) 893-7732.

Hippiefest: Hearken back to the years of peace, love and rock 'n' roll with English blues-rock legends Ten Years After, the Edgar Winter Band, Canned Heat and more. There will also be a Hippiefest Marketplace with vendors selling vintage items. It starts at 7 p.m. at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. $45–$79. (727) 791-7400.

Summer Classic Movie Series — Casablanca: As time goes by, this 1942 film lives on with famous quotes by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Repeat them all at 3 p.m. at Tampa Theatre, 711 Franklin St., Tampa. $9. (813) 274-8982.

Back to School Supply Craft Days: Pick up a free school bag or pencil case and decorate it in the Art Lab at the Glazer Children's Museum, 110 W Gasparilla Plaza, Tampa. Doors open at 10 a.m. Included with museum admission: $15, $12.50 seniors, $9.50 kids, under 1 free. (813) 443-3861.


Hell on Wheels, 9 p.m., AMC: Cullen and Elam must find a new source of lumber. Good thing none of those forests are federally protected.
