Things to do in Tampa Bay for Dec. 20

A Christmas Carol: The musical adaptation of Dickens' classic returns for the Christmas season. Show starts at 8 p.m. at Freefall Theatre, 6099 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. $20-$44. (727) 498-5205.

Paul Mecurio: A graduate of Georgetown Law and former Wall Street Lawyer and investment banker, this comedian has won an Emmy and Peabody Award for his writing on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. See him at 8 and 10:30 p.m. at the Improv Comedy Theater, 1600 E Eighth Ave., Tampa. $15-$17. (813) 864-4000.

Holiday Classic Movie Series: It's A Wonderful Life: The screening of the classic about an angel showing George Bailey what life would be like if he never existed starts at 7:30 p.m. at Tampa Theatre, 711 Franklin St., Tampa. $10, $8 members. (813) 274-8982.

Santa in St. Petersburg: Santa and his sleigh will be downtown for visits with kids. Come early and stick around for "glice" skating on a simulated ice rink. It starts at 6 p.m. in North Straub Park, Fifth Avenue NE and Bayshore Drive, St. Petersburg. Free; $5 skating. (727) 893-7441.
