Things to do in Tampa Bay for Jan. 3

Ringling Bros. and Barnum and Bailey Circus: The "Greatest Show on Earth" roars into town with the new show "Legends." Arrive an hour early for a free pre-show where fans can try on costumes, learn circus skills and meet the performers. The main events begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. $16-$70. (813) 301-2500.

Hannibal Buress: The Chicago-bred and New York-based comedian established himself in his Comedy Central one-hour special Animal Furnace. See him at 8 and 10:30 p.m. at the Improv Comedy Theater, 1600 E Eighth Ave., Tampa. $20-$22. (813) 864-4000.

Get Downtown First Friday Music Series: Get downtown for music, food and a lively crowd in the heart of St. Petersburg. Proceeds from beer and wine sales benefits area organizations. It starts at 5:30 p.m. at Second Street N and Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. Free; refreshments extra. (727) 393-3597.

Carl Labove: One of the original Outlaws of Comedy with Sam Kinison returns to Tampa with his fast-paced comedy. Shows are at 8 and 10:15 p.m. at Side Splitters Comedy Club, 12938 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. $14-$18.50. (813) 960-1197.
