Things to do in Tampa Bay for March 9

RECOMMENDED READING

Hunahpu's Day: As Tampa Bay Beer Week winds down, beer fanatics are going to great lengths to get a taste of this brew, standing in line for hours and coughing up $20 a bottle for the limited release of Hunahpu's Imperial Stout. Doors open at 7:50 a.m. at the Cigar City Brewing Tasting Room, 3924 W Spruce St., Tampa. (813) 348-6363.

Sea Monsters Revealed Opening: This could be your only chance to see an 18-foot, 3,000-pound whale shark up close — inside and out. The world's largest collection of "plastinated sea creatures" opens for its world premiere with life-size displays of giant squids, mako sharks and whale sharks. The exhibit opens at 9 a.m. at MOSI, 4801 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. $18.95 adults, $16.95 seniors 60+, $12.95 for children 2-12. Add $5 for admission to all MOSI exhibits. (813) 987-6000.

Gasparilla Music Festival: The whole family can come out to the second annual festival featuring a kids zone, food trucks and a beer tent. California fuzz-rockers Best Coast headline with an impressive collection of indie-folk acts performing on the other stages, including the Felice Brothers and Dawes. It starts at 11 a.m. in Curtis Hixon Park, 600 N Ashley Drive, Tampa. $30.

Florida Orchestra Pops: A Night at the Cotton Club: Featuring an all-star cast, including trumpeter Byron Stripling, tap dancer Ted Louis Levy and Count Basie songstress Carmen Bradford in a swinging salute to Harlem's famed Cotton Club. Songs include Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing, Dinah, Minnie The Moocher and more. The show begins at 8 p.m. at the Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S, St. Petersburg. $15-$45. (727) 892-5798.

TO WATCH

Saturday Night Live, 11:30 p.m., NBC Justin Timberlake is hosting again, and is the musical guest again. You know what that means: Bring it on down to Omeletteville. Or Waffleville. Someplace ending in "ville."
