Things to Do Planner: Grand Brony Gala, Fetish Con, Dog Swim Day, comic David Liebe Hart

ALTERNATIVE COMIC: David Liebe Hart

Fans of alternative comedy can catch David Liebe Hart at New World Brewery on Saturday but it's difficult to categorize what they will find. The off-kilter comic, musician and puppeteer is best known for his appearances on Adult Swim's Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! He scored some cult hits (Father & Son, Salame) from his bizarre catalog of songs about aliens, religion and failed relationships and he has an assortment of eclectic puppets and tells oddly endearing stories of paranormal encounters. It turns out one of Adult Swim show's most popular personalities isn't acting. He is that weird, and his die-hard fans love him for it. New World Brewery, 1313 E Eighth Ave. in Ybor City at 8:30 p.m. Saturday. $10. ticketfly.com.

GIDDY-UP: GRAND BRONY GALA

There really is a convention for everything. On the heels of Tampa Bay Comic Con, we have the Grand Brony Gala, a family-friendly event catering to fans of My Little Pony this weekend in Tampa. The event includes stars from the TV show including Kelly Sheridan and Peter New, cosplay contests, games, vendors, panels and shows. All day programs are PG-13 with some evening events like the Brony Chef Cocktail Hour catering to adults. Sunday is family day with games and events for younger fans. $10-$55; $165 VIP; children 5 and younger free. Open at 8:30 a.m. Friday through Sunday at the Sheraton Tampa East, 10221 Princess Palm Ave. grandbronygala.com.

KINK CLUB: FESTISH CON RETURNS

Speaking of a convention for everything …If you've been rehearsing kinky karaoke, these are your people. Fetish Con returns to the Hilton in downtown St. Petersburg tonight with a Kinky Red Carpet. But if you miss it, the Pervy Paparazzi will return for another red carpet turn on Sunday to kick off the first Fetish Con Awards, with prizes for actors, photographers and inventive clothing and toy designers. The 16th annual trade show brings vendors, models and a Super Heroine Showdown (1 p.m. Saturday). New this year, the Twisted Dungeon play space is open to everyone attending the convention. You must be 18 or older to attend. $40 per day, $107 all-access, $25 after-party. It opens at 7 p.m. Thursday and runs from noon to the wee hours Friday through Sunday with lots of parties planned. 333 First St. S, St. Petersburg. fetishcon.com.

DOG PADDLE: Pups in the pool

For the annual Dog Swim Day on Saturday, St. Petersburg Recreation Department offers two sessions to let man's best friend paddle around Fossil Park Pool and even leap off the diving boards. The first session is 9:30-11 a.m. and the second is 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. for leash-free swim and play for pups before the pool closes for the season. Register at either start time with proof of dog's current vaccination. But sorry, kids, no swimming for humans. $5 per session dogs, humans free. Fossil Park Pool, 6739 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N, St. Petersburg. (727) 893-7732.
