Grumpy Cat: The Internet's favorite cat is coming to Tampa Theatre on Tuesday for a free screening of Happiness Finds Grumpy Cat. The first 150 fans also get a meet and greet with Grumpy Cat and her feline mascot friends. It's free but limited seating is first come, first served. (813) 274-8286.

Cirque du Soleil: The acrobats gracefully transform Tampa's Amalie Arena into a forest filled with exotic creatures to tell the story of Icarus after he falls from the sky in the new show Varekai from Wednesday to Sunday. $40-$115. (813) 301-2500.

DATE NIGHT

Comedy: This is a great week to get your funnies around Tampa Bay, with Dave Coulier taking a break from Netflix's Fuller House to hit Tampa's Improv on Friday and Saturday ($20). Nerdist and @Midnight host Chris Hardwick performs Saturday at the Straz Center ($37.50). Also on Saturday, No. 78 on Comedy Central's 100 Greatest Stand-Ups of All Time Sinbad performs at Clearwater's Capitol Theatre ($35-$82).

Music: Whitesnake brings the ultimate '80s power ballad Is This Love to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Thursday ($38.75-$68.75). Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane stops at the Capitol Theatre on Friday ($25-$39). Then Grammy-winning Bubbly singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat follows up at the same venue Sunday ($56.25-$69.25).

Tupperware Fundraiser with Dixie Longate: This ain't your mama's Tupperware party. The celebrity comedian presents a lid-snapping night of drag banter and, well, Tupperware in a fundraiser Friday at Metro Wellness and Community Center (St. Pete). $20-$35. (727) 321-3854.

Back to School Fairs: Another sign school is near: Back to school fairs dot the landscape. Two of the bigger ones Saturday are at Westshore Plaza with live entertainment, hands-on activities, workshops, speaker sessions, a scavenger hunt and free totes full of goodies for the first 150 children (free) and at the Skatepark of Tampa with pro skateboarders David Reyes and Matt Berger, an all-ages skateboard contest and barbecue ($25-$30).
