Top things to do this week in Tampa Bay: Two-Headed Calf Fest, remembering Snooty the manatee

Comedy Giants: Chris Tucker, D.L. Hughley

Best known for the Rush Hour films and the cult favorite Friday series, Chris Tucker, right, is the kind of comic who can command Amalie Arena, and that's where he's headed Friday. He's bringing along a special guest, one of the original Kings of Comedy D.L. Hughley. Between comedies and side trips into serious movies like Silver Linings Playbook, Tucker has starred in films that have collectively grossed more than $1 billion dollars worldwide. Catch him at 8 p.m. Friday at 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa. $41.75-$61.75. (813) 301-2500. amaliearena.com.

WEIRD SCIENCE: Two-Headed Calf Fest

Friday's Two-Headed Calf Fest will celebrate the weirdness of St. Petersburg and the Museum of History's Alligators and Oddities exhibit, highlighted by a nearly 100-year-old two-headed calf. The baby beast with two heads — and six legs — was born in Safety Harbor in 1925 and survived six weeks. It was then stuffed by a taxidermist and donated to the museum. It has long been one of the more popular artifacts at the 95-year-old museum, which also houses a 3,000-year-old mummy left behind in 1922 by a boat captain who couldn't afford the local port fees. The mummy was accepted as payment. The festival will have live music and food trucks, and, in keeping with the oddities theme, real mermaids and alligators, carnival side shows, a costume contest, craft beer and museum admission. It runs 6-10 p.m. Friday at 335 Second Ave. NE, St. Petersburg. $30-40. (727) 894-1052. spmoh.com.

MEMORIAL: Remembering Snooty

Sunday brings a community memorial for Snooty, the beloved 69-year-old manatee at the South Florida Museum who drowned in his tank in late July — a day after he celebrated his record-breaking birthday. The museum will be open to the public for free for a Snooty day of remembrance from noon to 5 p.m. The celebration will include a visual tribute to the manatee certified by Guinness World Records as the oldest manatee in human care, and the chance for visitors to help create memorial projects. 201 10th St. W, Bradenton. (941) 746-4131.
