Fireworks light up the sky as a part of First Night St. Petersburg.

Many New Year's Eve events today will have fireworks; here are some of the major displays. For a bigger list of events, go to tampabay.com/things-to-do.

First Night St. Petersburg: One of the highlights of St. Petersburg's annual alcohol-free family event are two fireworks displays, one at the bedtime-friendly hour of 8 p.m. and the second at midnight off Straub Park, at Beach Drive and Fifth Avenue NE, St. Petersburg.

Apollo Beach New Year's Eve Bash: The waterfront restaurant Circles' New Year's Eve party will have a huge fireworks show. The party also features music by the Luna Blue Band. Apollo Beach is a small town but the fireworks display, to be launched from a barge moored in Bal Harbor at midnight, is expected to be viewable far and wide. Free; $30 VIP. Circles Waterfront Restaurant, 1212 Apollo Beach Blvd., Apollo Beach. (813) 995-1172. 6 p.m.-2 a.m.

Channelside Lights Up the Bay: Channelside cranks up its annual New Year's Eve event with live music and DJs in the courtyard, dancing and fireworks set off as the clock strikes midnight. The wharf will be open for fireworks viewing, but only 3,500 free wristbands will be distributed for admission. No personal fireworks, coolers or chairs are permitted. Free. Channelside Bay Plaza, 615 Channelside Drive, Tampa. (813) 223-4250. 6 p.m.-3 a.m.

Light it Up Clearwater Beach: Fireworks on New Year's Eve at Clearwater Beach will start from Sand Key Park and can be seen from anywhere on Clearwater Beach. Free. (727) 562-4800. Midnight.

New Year's Eve @ Jackson's: One of Tampa Bay's best-known celebrations includes indoor and outdoor party areas, an independent fireworks display (they claim it's bigger than Channelside's), balloon drop, entertainment and a champagne toast. $25, $50 VIP. Jackson's Bistro Bar & Sushi, 601 S Harbour Island Blvd., Tampa. (813) 277-0112. 9 p.m.

Hogan's Beach Masquerade Ball: Hulk Hogan hosts his second annual New Year's Eve masquerade party with a giant fireworks display, appetizers, party favors and a champagne toast at midnight. 21 and older only. The party goes on until 3 a.m. at Hogan's Beach, 7700 Courtney Campbell Causeway, Tampa. $40.
