1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, room temperature

½ cup granulated sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla

2 teaspoons instant coffee

¼ cup cocoa

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour

2 cups chopped nuts, such as pecans or walnuts

Confectioners' sugar

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Add and blend in instant coffee and cocoa. Mix in flour and nuts.

Shape dough into small balls and place on parchment-lined baking sheets, 2 inches apart. Bake for 10 minutes. Roll in confectioners' sugar.

YIELD: Makes 3 to 4 dozen.

FREEZEWORTHY: Yes, but cool completely first. They may need another dusting of confectioners' sugar after thawing.
