Don't enjoy breakfast but need to get something in your stomach? Cranky around 3 p.m. and need a jolt of energy? Have trouble getting your daily recommended fruit servings? This smoothie is the cure for all of that and more. It's become my morning go-to. The secret ingredient here is kefir, a probiotic product that's like drinkable yogurt. You can sub plain yogurt in a pinch. The protein powder helps keep you full through the morning; if that's not your thing try adding a scoop of peanut butter.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie

Ingredients

  • 1 whole frozen banana
  • 6 frozen strawberries
  • Handful chopped cherries, frozen or not
  • 1/2 cup plain kefir
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • Couple drops almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 scoop protein powder of your choice

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth. This will probably take 15 to 30 seconds longer than you think. Enjoy immediately.
