Indulge your sweet tooth with Upper Moreland Peanut Butter Bars.

I'm looking for a recipe my husband remembers from his high school cafeteria at Upper Moreland in Pennsylvania for peanut butter bars with chocolate icing. Any chance someone has the recipe? Thank you.

Marge Miller of Clearwater Beach actually knows someone who went to Upper Moreland. She got in touch with her old friend, Diana, and Diana happened to have the recipe. Apparently recipe cards were given out at a few of the reunions many years back. This recipe makes a large pan of bars, so it's ideal for large gatherings or a potluck party. The original recipe didn't specify the size of the sheet pan so I started with my smaller one and worried it was too small. I went to my next size, 17.25 by 11.5 inches, and it was perfect. The mixture cooked in 25 minutes. While these would probably be fine without the glaze, the glaze takes them over the top. They are not too sweet and have a nice balance of chocolate and peanut butter.

Upper Moreland Peanut Butter Bars

2 sticks unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup light brown sugar

2 cups sugar

4 eggs

1 ½ cups creamy peanut butter

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 ¾ cups flour

teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon baking powder

For the chocolate glaze:

2 cups sifted powdered sugar

½ cup cocoa powder

2 tablespoons butter, softened

1 teaspoon vanilla

3 or 4 tablespoons milk (I ended up using 4 tablespoons of milk)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Make the glaze: In a stand mixer combine powdered sugar, cocoa powder and butter. Mix until moistened. Add vanilla, then mix. Add milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until spreading consistency.

Using a clean stand mixer, cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition until well incorporated. Add peanut butter and vanilla and mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt and baking powder. Add all at once to peanut butter mixture and mix well. Using a rubber spatula, pat mixture onto a 17.25- by 11.5-inch rimmed baking sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until top is set and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Glaze while warm with chocolate glaze.
