Swann Ave. Market serves deli faves and craft beer

TAMPA — Newlyweds Chris and Baily Klein enjoyed their shopping walks to their Hyde Park neighborhood deli so much that they bought it. On Valentine's Day, Chris, a former mortgage broker, and Baily, a Channelside Academy second-grade teacher, took over the Swann Ave. Market, "transitioning from the beer store next to the middle school to the deli with the great beer and wine selection," he said.

The deli counter offers Boar's Head meat on sandwiches and by the pound. Buddy Brew coffee is always fresh. Sundries include chips and soft drinks, ice cream and candy. A walk-in humidor holds a variety of cigars.

Food and wine tastings are usually held on Fridays. "Our customers say we have the best craft beer selection in South Tampa," Chris said.

Swann Ave. Market is at 1021 W Swann Ave. and is open daily. Visit swannave.com or call (813) 251-5000.

    Visual Arts

SEATTLE — More than 40 years later, Jeffrey Beers still vividly remembers what it felt like to have Dale Chihuly call up to convene a pre-dawn glassblowing session. You felt flattered and inspired, he said, jazzed by Mr. Chihuly's caffeinated freight train of energy and the idea of making art with him while most …
