New: Beer passport

The St. Petersburg and Clearwater area is home to the largest craft beer scene in Florida, boasting more than 33 breweries, including the oldest in the state, Dunedin Brewery. With so many suds enthusiasts, both locals and visitors, Visit St. Pete/Clearwater set out to encourage exploration of the area, one beer (or cider) at a time. Last week it launched the Gulp Coast Beer Passport, part of their gulpcoast.com website. Unlike other beer or wine passports, the Gulp Coast Beer Passport is free.

Each brewery has the passport ready for collection (or you can order yours online at gulpcoast.com), and with passport in hand, drinkers can explore the diverse range of breweries across the Gulp Coast, collecting a sticker at each to confirm their visit. The destinations are divided up into regions, to encourage savvy strategizing. For folks who collect a sticker at every one (you've got a DD, right?), there are limited-edition Gulp Coast brewery T-shirts and SiliPints (unbreakable pint glasses) on offer, as well as secret prizes.

"As the largest craft beer destination in the state, it's cool to finally have something like the Gulp Coast passport that connects it all," said Khris Johnson, co-owner and head brewer at Green Bench Brewing Co. "What's great for one brewery is great for all of them, so we're excited to be involved with another fun project of Visit St. Pete/Clearwater's."

TREAT OF THE WEEK: COOKIE DOUGH FROZEN YOGURT SANDWICH

Face it, it's still summer. Need a quick pick-me-up as we wait for temperatures to approach reasonable? Yogurtology, a family-owned and -operated company headquartered in Tampa, has been slaying with a new product. It's a cookie dough frozen yogurt sandwich. Picture edible cookie dough on the top and bottom (I've written about this trend recently, so they are totally on point), with frozen yogurt in the middle. They concoct all types of sandwiches with various types of cookie dough and frozen yogurt flavors. Find them at 3043 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg, (727) 895-1376; 3641 W Kennedy Blvd., Suite A, Tampa, (813) 867-8628; 3017 W Gandy Blvd., Tampa, (813) 839-4200, and other locations.

Coming soon:Watervue Grill

Andrew Bonnemort, the owner of Harbour Island mainstays Cafe Dufrain and Cry Baby Cafe, has announced the November opening of his third Harbour Island eatery, Watervue Grille. The restaurant at 700 Harbour Post Drive will focus heavily on fresh Florida seafood served in a waterfront setting with great views of downtown Tampa. The restaurant will offer craft cocktails, waterfront patio seating, and a private dining and event space. In addition to the available street and garage parking on Harbour Island, Watervue Grille is within walking distance of the Tampa Convention Center, Amalie Arena and the Tampa History Museum. It's also near Harbour Island's public boat docks and Pirate Water Taxi stop No. 4.
