Beer Week: 7 brews that really rock

Beer is often paired with food — sometimes dinner, sometimes cheese or dessert.

At the Ale and the Witch on Monday, it was paired with music.

Dunedin's one-year-old 7venth Sun Brewery chose seven of its beers and asked Clearwater band Between Bluff's to pair them with seven songs.

Some were subtle connections. Others — like a cover of the Beastie Boy's "Intergalactic" with 7venth Sun's Intergalactic Pale Ale — were humorously obvious.

Those participating got a toast-sized glass of beer for each song, and brewery co-owner Devon Kreps explained each beer to the small crowd outside the St. Petersburg brewery.

For the third toast, a Belgian-style golden strong called Belge d'Or, she explained the beer's banana aroma and rich mouthfeel.

The band admitted to not knowing French. "D'Or" made them think of The Doors.
