Beer Week: All hail the 7venth Sun

On the last Friday night of Tampa Bay Beer Week, it seemed like beer lovers were making the circuit, hopping from event to event to sample local and other noteworthy craft beers.

Several groups spied at Rapp Brewing Co. in Seminole made their way to Copperheads Tap House in Safety Harbor where beer from 7venth Sun Brewing Co. was featured. Seats at the bar and the high-tops were full and the smack of the pool balls provided the night's rhythm.

Though the beers of the Dunedin brewery were featured, plenty of people were trying other brews.  We had a flight of four beers, among them 7venth Sun's FYI, an American pale ale; Cigar City Brewing's Guanabana Ale, a murky but silky fruit beer; a Ballast Point Sculpin Habanero, which got hotter as it warmed up, and our favorite of the four, a Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, that went down as smooth as, well, a fine bourbon. It's aged for six months and begs to be sipped. Perfect for an after-dinner drink or even a pre-meal aperitif.

  1. Five ideas for cooking with ground turkey

I rarely cook with ground beef. Ground turkey became the go-to ground protein in my kitchen years ago. As meats go, it's pretty ideal: not a ton of raw meat juices, easy enough to cook in a pinch, more flavor than ground chicken. 4. Restaurant review: Food and beer pair nicely at the Eatery at Brew Bus Terminal and Brewery

    Food & Dining

TAMPA - Tampa Bay's craft beer scene is perennially in flux. New breweries open, others close or get scooped up by bigger breweries, some reinvent themselves so they can sell beer off site, and still others build on kitchens and add food to give enthusiasts another reason to sit tight.

A Passion of the Heights hibiscus wheat ale is displayed at The Brew Bus in Tampa, Fla., on Wednesday, Jul 19, 2017. The Brew Bus Terminal, which houses a microbrewery and tasting room and serves as a hub for bus tours to local breweries, has opened an on-site kitchen called the Eatery. With the opening of the new casual dining concept, the brewery joins the ranks of microbreweries across the country that have asked that question: "What goes with beer? Hey, how about food?"
