Here’s where to party for Oktoberfest in Tampa Bay

Grab your beer stein and get ready to party. Oktoberfest season is here and we’ve found plenty of flowing beer, goofy games and opportunities to eat, drink and celebrate all things German. Prost!

Curtis Hixon Park

Tampa’s waterfront park transforms into a giant beer garden with traditional dancing, live music, Bavarian games, stein hoisting, keg stacking, tug of war, brat toss and carry the wench. $10, $25 weekend. 4-11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday , 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. 600 N Ashley Drive, Tampa. Heights Fall Festival

Bring non-perishable food items to this seasonal festival with a pumpkin patch, children’s activities, games, Oktoberfest beer samples, live music, vendors, face painting and a food drive. Taste 25 local craft beers and vote for your favorite at this festival with a barbecue dinner, face painting, raffle and an auction. The Sail

Experience the sights, sounds and “suds” of Oktoberfest at the October installment of Brews and Bites with a fleet of food trucks. Free (food/drink additional). 6-11 p.m. Friday. 333 S Franklin St., Tampa. (813) 274-7355.


Rum revelry at Bahama Breeze’s take on Oktoberfest nightly through Oct. 28, with rum-inspired specialty cocktails, drink specials, rum-infused menu, and a special RumBash Friday party each Friday through Oct. 26. Church party

Upper Tampa Bay Chamber

The large annual Oktoberfest celebration includes music, dancing, German style food, festival foods, beer, a midway carnival, games for kids and competitions including stein holding, log sawing and keg tossing. This year adds weiner dog racing and a Volkswagen car show (Oct. 21). $5, 12 and younger/verterans free. 5-11 p.m. Oct. 19, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Oct. 20, noon-7 p.m. Oct. 21. Temple Terrace

German American Society

Known as “Tampa Bay’s most authentic Oktoberfest,” join the German American Society of Pinellas for live oompah music, keg tappings, a parade, dancers, imported beers, authentic cuisine and German vendors. Oktoberfest On the Beach

Live music and dancing all day with food, music, arts and crafts for sale, stein carrying, keg throwing, silent auction and activities for kids during kinderfest. Family Fall Festival

Midway rides, games, music, food, an over-sized flea market, craft beer and sports tent, live entertainment and raffles. Benefits Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School. Santa’s Angels

German-themed party with a Halloween twist. German sausages, unlimited beer and wine, food from area restaurants, spooky party games, haunted photo booth, live music, dancing and a costume contest. St. Petersburg’s new Oktoberfest party features live music by 15 bands, German food, contests, a Lederhosen dance off, games, axe throwing, raffles and giveaways. Nightly German music, food and dancing, face painting, balloon twisters (Tuesdays), the Hofbrau Hauswives Afterhours Drag Show (Thursdays) and Bier Olympics (Fridays and Saturdays through this weekend). Kids can get into the Bier Olympics action with root beer chugging, belching contests and a chicken dance off. Through Oct. 21. St. Pete Beach

The fall German festivities make their way to St. Pete Beach for the inaugural celebration along Corey Avenue, with smoked sausages, roast meats, sauerkraut and pretzels, beer, music from Alpine Doc and Fraulein Gretel, and Bavarian folk dancers. Tarpon Springs

A German biergarten is filled with food vendors, arts and crafts, continuous music, dancing, games, keg tappings and contests. Free. 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Oct. 19-20, noon-6 p.m. Oct. 21. Downtown Tarpon Springs, Orange Street Between Safford and N Pinellas Avenues, Tarpon Springs. (727) 946-5610.

Festive 5K

Oktoberfest-themed costumes encouraged for these 5K, 10K and Craft Beer Challenge runs with out and back courses on the Pinellas Trail. Everyone 21 and older gets an Oktoberfest beer and admission to the Edgewater Park Seafood Festival. All finishers take home the coveted beer keg medal. Tierra Verde

Celebrate with dancing to live German and contemporary music, food and drink in the bier garten and food truck on site. Also, arts and crafts, children’s activities and a raffle.
