How do you get your lamb to jump? The secret is trust

It might seem like scaring your lamb would be an effective way to get it to jump, but not according to Jennifer Wayman.

She says trust works better.

She and her lamb Pepper competed in a jumping contest at the Florida Strawberry Festival. Wayman says it takes a lot of time with the animals to get them to trust you, and then, if all goes well, they will jump.

A small crowd gathered in the Patterson Company Livestock Arena and cheered for students as they coaxed their animals over the hurdles at the annual event.

The Strawberry Festival runs through March 9 with lots of free shows, animals and top headliners. But the stars are the berries, and you can find them big, juicy and plentiful.

Admission is $10 for adults, children ages 6-12 $5; under 6 free. (813) 752-9194. Visit the website for special days and discounts at flstrawberryfestival.com/about-us/special-days-discounts. The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily until March 9 with concerts at 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. each day.

    Sometimes, the more time you have with a project, the more complicated it gets. I started hearing about Mortar & Pestle in Seminole Heights about 18 months ago. It was the vision of Ujwal Patel, a pharmacist;
