The Florida Aquarium kicked of a weekend of Halloween fun Friday afternoon with a special snack for its resident otters and an underwater pumpkin carving contest by costumed divers in the Coral Reef Gallery.
The otters twirled and played with the pumpkins before devouring Halloween treats of frozen fish stuffed inside. Part of the aquarium's animal enrichment program, the activity is designed to keep the otters stay active and mentally stimulated.
On Sunday, the Aquarium's Guppyween event allows children to trick-or-treat among the 20,000 sea creatures in a family-friendly environment. The event runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and costs $15 for adults, $5 for kids in costume and free for members and children under 2.
