If last weekend's Dedh Ishqiya was a study in what well-seasoned actors can do, this week's Karle Pyaar Karle is the opposite. It stars two newcomers whose routes to stardom are very much Bollywood norm: Hasleen Kaur is a beauty pageant star, Shiv Darshan the muscular son of an established director and producer (who is, of course, producing this movie). Meaning they have looks and connections and, as the trailer alone demonstrates, zero talent.
They play separated and then reunited childhood friends Preet and Kabir, who like flirting with danger as much as each other. As in guns, motorcycles, chicken with a train, dares ("game on!" is their favorite phrase). Also as in leaving town to evade jail time is what separated the pair as kids.
But, the trailer asks, will they dare to love?
The better question is, will anyone dare to buy a ticket to watch this?
If you do dare, Karle Pyaar Karle, with subtitles, opens Friday at AMC Veterans 24 in Tampa.
