Bollywood's leading men are known as heroes. Strong, funny, romantic, good-hearted guys. Mischievous if charming "naughtiest kid in town"? He's a wannabe.

The "hero" of supposed comedy Main Tera Hero (I, Your Hero), Seenu, even mocks other successful heroes, especially one who has romanced two particular heroines before. Star Varun Dhawan's only previous film role was two years ago playing a similar often-shirtless playboy in high school flick Student of the Year, when he was one of two heroes fighting over a girl.

The tables are turned now as two heroines fight over him (probably director dad David Dhawan's doing).

You could hardly pick two better actors to face off over you: Soft-spoken Ileana D'Cruz is far more accomplished across Bollywood and India's regional cinemas than fellow 26-year-old Dhawan, and Pakistani-American Nargis Fakhri was a two-time America's Next Top Model semifinalist. The latter also won an International Indian Film Academy Award for "hottest couple" with Ranbir Kapoor, that hero being mocked in Main Tera Hero.

Main Tera Hero opens Friday with subtitles at AMC Veterans 24.
